The Careers Committee represents the professional interests of ALSS members. Our main objective is to assist students in their career planning. In collaboration with Allard Law’s Career Services Office, we provide students wanting traditional legal careers with information, tools, and resources to help secure summer and articling positions; we also help students identify and plan for non-traditional legal careers.
To help you with your job search strategy, the Careers Committee annually produces the Legal Careers Guide. We also organize panel discussions in various practice areas to better inform your career planning.
Another objective of the Careers Committee is to provide a link between the student body and the legal community. To this end, we host several networking events where students can meet lawyers from a variety of different practice areas. In addition, we coordinate a Mentorship Program in collaboration with the Canadian Bar Association, wherein students are matched with mentors from the BC legal community.
Student volunteers for our events are always welcome and appreciated. Please contact the Careers Committee to volunteer. Learn more about the Careers Committee’s elected positions.
