Careers Committee

The Careers Committee represents the professional interests of ALSS members. Our main objective is to assist students in their career planning. In collaboration with the Career Services Office, we help you secure summer and articling positions for a traditional legal career, or to help you plan for a non-traditional legal career.

To help you plan your job search strategy, the Careers Committee annually produces the UBC Articling Handbook. We also organize panel discussions in various practice areas to better inform your career planning.

Another objective of the Careers Committee is to provide a link between the student body and the legal community. To this end we host several networking events where students can meet lawyers from a variety of different practice areas. In addition, we coordinate a Mentorship Program, in collaboration with the Canadian Bar Association, wherein students are matched with mentors from the BC legal community. Student volunteers for our events are always welcome and appreciated. Please contact the Careers Committee to volunteer.
